Museum of skiing in Dolní Branná in the oldest preserved architectural monument of the village, more than a quarter of a millennium old log house no.1. The beautiful building underwent a complete reconstruction and enabled the creation of an interesting museum building with three floors, including a basement, formerly a cellar and barn, which was converted into a museum café.
The exhibition is dedicated to a lifelong collection of ski, tobogganing and skating artifacts, which were carefully collected and cared for with love and interest by the cantor and ski coach, local citizen Aleš Suk.
The museum provides an insight into the development of winter sports and tourism, presents the products of local craftsmen (wheelwrights, blacksmiths, shoemakers, saddlers) who surprise with a unique and magical design and recalls the conditions in which extraordinary sports victories in world cups, world championships and winter Olympics were born. pea.
The Hall of Fame with medals, cups or dantesy also represents the equipment and awards not only of Bohumil Hanč, but also of today's Krkonoše athletes.
The two-year reconstruction determined the present appearance of the three-storey museum building. The basement, formerly a cellar and barn, was converted into a museum café. 22 people can sit, have fun and refresh themselves here.
Exposition areas of the ski museum
The first floor uncovers the spaces that form the framework of the exhibition. The entrance hall attracts with its non-traditional interactive stand. Here, everyone can borrow complete historical equipment and in the winter months, for example, try it on the slope behind the museum a short descent below Paloušův mlýn. The exhibition hall provides an insight into the development and "pioneering" times of winter hiking, skiing, sledding, skating and bobsledding. Not only the products of local craftsmen in the group of wheelwrights from the Krkonoše Mountains, woodcutters, blacksmiths, shoemakers and saddlers will surprise visitors with their unique and magical design. The exhibited objects also include inventions, improvers and patents of all-kinds.
Hall of Fame - there are many beauties, glittering medals, cups, dantes, not only local national champions, of which there are 15 so far. . Summarized, the names of 8 Olympic medals were won and the titles of world or European champions are almost impossible to count.
They are all natives from the immediate vicinity of our village.
