Large mechanical nativity scene in Vrchlabí

Carved figures represent the world of the First Republic. Here we find scenes from life in the city and the village, where he presents mostly old and in some cases now non-existent crafts and housework. Here you can see, for example, a cookbook rolling dough, a chimney sweep, firefighters and various craftsmen and their tools, even an opening kadibudku.

You will also find important buildings of the city, such as the Municipal Theater, but also local figures, such as the academic painter Kamil Sopka. Scenes from the film Alone by the Forest, such as how grandfather Komárek cuts wood, and the character of actors Jan Tříska and Ladislav Smoljak will definitely interest you. The nativity scene also includes a cemetery.

The whole scenery was created on the basis of a nativity scene and subsequently abandoned the classical rendering, which created this unique work, which is therefore current throughout the year.

A tour of the mechanical nativity scene can be combined with a visit to the nearby, almost traditional, and beautiful Krkonoše fairytale nativity scene with life-size wooden figures, which is in the nearby castle park.
