A trip to the old days! Little Pojizerský Pacific - a romantic ride through the Jizera valley

If you leave from Martinice, you will be able to admire the beautiful panorama of the mountains with the dominant Žalý, which will hide behind the trees for a while, so that after passing the train through Jilemnice it will come out much closer again. Behind Víchová, the iron bridge over the river forms a gateway to the mountain valley of the Jizera - the track sometimes hides in a terrain notch in the forest, then the train runs along a high embankment or bridge over the river. The drive through the 80-meter tunnel near Hradsko will also diversify the ride. The train passes through Ponikla and Jablonec nad Jizerou, and ends in Rokytnice nad Jizerou, from where you can continue by bus along the road in the Jizera valley to Harrachov. The Pojizerský Pacific route has its own special charm, which operates in all seasons, including winter.

It is also interesting that the highest point of the line is located at its foothills in Martinice (488.8 m above sea level) and that the Jilemnice station is also higher than the final one in the mountain resort of Rokytnice nad Jizerou (465.9 versus 457.5 m nm). This is due to the fact that the Chlumec-Trutnov railway, on which the Martinice branch station lies, leads through this part of the Krkonoše foothills through a rugged landscape across river valleys, while the local runs into the Jizera valley and leads along its bottom to the final one, which lies in Rokytnice .
